Anja Tempel
Anja Tempel is a choreographer, movement director, and creative director/Director, known for creating bold concepts that entertain, educate, and spark conversation. She uses choreography and movement as the foundation of her creativity while collaborating across disciplines to challenge norms and push boundaries.
Born into a German-Trinidadian household, Anja’s upbringing navigating contrasts in race, gender, and culture has shaped her artistic practice, fueling her drive to explore cultural duality through movement and storytelling. She began her training at The Ailey School and LaGuardia Arts High School in New York City, building a strong foundation in ballet, jazz, West African, Graham, and Horton techniques.
At USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, she refined these styles and added house, locking, and waacking. Studying dance as a social science further deepened her understanding of herself as both an artist and a scholar.
Anja is currently pursuing an M.A. in Communication Management at USC Annenberg, bridging the social sciences and business aspects of creation, entertainment, and media. Her work spans dance films, commercial projects, and live performances, including Caribeauty and The World Has a Problem.
Represented by United Talent Agency, Anja continues to push boundaries and shape the future of dance in culture and media.
